Google just announced the Chrome OS will be due the 2nd half of 2010. Looks like a nice open source OS that attacking a niche Linux and MS can't fill.

I think its kind of lame that they're requiring specific hardware. Seems like the whole point of operating off of the cloud would be to remove such specifications.

What I had imagined they would do to make various hardwares work (somewhat remotely) would be to maintain a huge database of drivers and such, and then just remember those configurations as an option for individuals/machines.
