Westin glass being replaced [pics]

The change in color is actually quite subtle. It does have more of a "bronze" tint I suppose, but its not very much of a change at all.

For some reason they are skipping the ones that actually got blown out for now. They're only replacing the existing ones for now.

This is the first time I've heard about this. Are they doing it because they were having a hard time sourcing replacement windows in the same color?

No, its a code issue. The windows as built in the 70's do not in anyway meet current 2009 building codes. They can't put non code compliant new windows in ... and having 25% of the windows be new and keep the old ones won't look right. So they are having to replace the entire building's worth of windows.

Who knows -- though the whole code thing is just something I heard. I've never seen Westin come out with an official statement or anything.

Current codes require double paned windows which the old windows were not.

Personally I think it would look pretty cool if they had two different kinds of windows... like all pixelated.
