Do they usually have decent lump crab meat at regular grocery stores or should I go to whole foods? I really don't want to go all the way to whole foods but I also really need to make this soup and fake crab meat is the most disgusting thing ever.

well, if you have a farmers market, they probably have good crab there, or even live crab but then thats just a lot of work to extract the crab.
but otherwise, i'm not positive, but i think at least the publix by me has real crab meat for sale.

yeah publix has a couple different brands. It's fuckin expensive though, like $15 for a yogurt-sized cup of it.

decided not to take my chances and went to whole foods cause harris teeter is somewhere between kroger and publix on the quality scale. got a yogurt size cup for 9$. it was ok....only a few crunchy pieces, but my soup was really good anyways
